Pro-Illegal Bill Narrowly Defeated by Cook County Board
According to an article in the Chicago Tribune, a proposal that would forbid Cook County employees from inquiring into the immigration status of suspected illegal aliens was defeated—just barely—in a tie vote of the Cook County Board.
Commissioner Roberto Maldonado (D-Chicago), the measure’s sponsor, said he was disappointed that the proposal failed and called it a “fabrication of facts” that it would have led the county’s health-care system to become overrun with patients.
Our comment: Why, exactly, wouldn’t illegal aliens flock to a health system where they can’t be investigated. Wouldn’t car thieves flock to a city where police were prevented from asking to see registration papers during a traffic stop?
