Kankakee columnist: “White America needs its own Al Sharpton”
Commentators in the mainstream media who dare to call for a higher level of white consciousness are rarer than hen’s teeth–but amazingly, a columnist for the Kankakee Daily Journal has done just that!
Commenting on the horrific murders of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom in Knoxville, the columnist, Ron Jackson asks:
Where were Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Nancy Grace, Greta Van Susteren or Geraldo Rivera? …[J]ust what was missing or so wrong about this story that made it unworthy?
He promptly gives the (obvious) answer:
[T]he victims and the villains didn’t fit the correct racial profile. The victims were white; the villains were black. That doesn’t sell. Reverse the situation and we would have nonstop coverage.
Even such a comment is rare in the media; the far more common response to black-on-white crime is dead silence (and dead silence about the dead silence).Mr. Jackson, however, goes even further into taboo territory in examining why this is so:
[T]here are no white activists bold enough to speak up out of fear of being labeled a racist. It’s as if these two young white people were not important enough to have America learn of their unthinkable demise.
We have organized groups that will protest when whites commit crimes against blacks or children or homosexuals or religion. Yet when a heinous crime is committed against blacks by blacks or against your everyday heterosexual Caucasian by blacks, no one shouts. No one comes forward as a spokesperson for white guy civil rights.
The columnist concludes:
[W]hite America needs a few Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons.
Amen, and amen again! And above all, kudos to this journalist for daring to suggest that whites need a sense of solidarity, and leaders who represent not “diversity” but the interests of whites, just as Rev. Jackson and Rev. Sharpton stand up for the interests of blacks. As a journalist, Mr. Jackson is probably unaware that there are indeed those brave few who stand up for whites: AR’s own Jared Taylor comes first to mind. But people like Mr. Taylor are subject to an almost total media blackout, for two reasons: first, because the powers-that-be don’t want to give whites the impression that it’s okay for them to rally around a spokesperson the way blacks rally around Rev. Jackson or Rev. Sharpton; and second, because they don’t want undermine the stereotype of racially-conscious-white-equals-hateful-ignorant-redneck by presenting someone intelligent and well-spoken like Mr. Taylor.
Nonetheless, this newspaper piece by Mr. Jackson definitely breaks new ground. The comments have been overwhelmingly favorable. Why not post your own? Better yet, contact Mr. Jackson and the Daily Journal and thank them for printing this editorial.
This article has created a big stir. It’s still listed as the “most commented” on the Daily Journal’s home page even days later. I’m surprised they’ve left all the comments up there, even from Nazis and crazies. OTOH its really boosting their traffic. They’re on the main AR site too. Not bad for a little small-town paper! They must see that they’ve really hit a raw nerve.
