La Raza convention coming to Chicago?

La Raza (literally, “the race”), a Hispanic organization that aggressively promotes the conquest and colonization of the U.S. by Mexicans and others, has decided to move its planned 2009 conference out of Kansas City because a member of that city’s Park Board is an active member of the Minutemen, and its brave Mayor won’t back down in the face of Hispanic threats. Among the alternatives being considered is Chicago–presumably because the Chicago city government is among the most illegal alien-friendly in the nation.

As we reported in a previous post, powerful interests have been putting tremendous pressure on Kansas City to fire Frances Semler, a 73 year old grandmother, from the Park Board because of her Minuteman sympathies. Of course, it’s not that she has any significant authority that she could use against illegal aliens. Rather, it’s about the open borders lobby (i.e. rich Americans wanting cheap labor) and the Hispanic lobby (i.e. aliens, legal and illegal, wanting the right to colonize the U.S. with impunity) joining forces and “setting an example” that their will must be obeyed–or else.

But as ExpoWeb reports, Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhauser “appointed Semler to the Park Board, without knowing she was a member of the Minutemen. When the NCLR said it would relocate its conference if Semler was not removed, she offered her resignation. Funkhouser refused to let her resign.” That’s real courage!

So the National Council of La Raza has decided to “punish” Kansas City by withdrawing its convention business in 2009.

Monica Lozano, NCLR Board Chair, says, “An active member of the Minutemen should not be an official representative for a city that purports to believe in diversity. We are dismayed by the Mayor’s complete lack of understanding of what a Minutemen city official symbolizes to his Hispanic constituents and to the Latino community nationwide.” …

The NCLR Annual Conference and Latino Expo USA would have brought a reported 5,000 hotel room nights and more than $5 million to Kansas City. Tentative sites for the 2009 conference include Las Vegas and Chicago.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Chicago gets the nod. With its “sanctuary city” policy of official non-enforcement of immigration law, the Chicago city government is “exemplary” in its willingness to sell out the interests of Americans for the sake of open borders elites and illegal aliens.
