Barack gets in touch with his inner honkey
Only a few weeks ago, Barack Obama was staunchly defending his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Comments made by Wright at a recent NAACP gathering, however, were so extreme that even liberals had to wince at their hatefulness. It’s now undeniable: Wright has become a political liability for Obama. And surprise, surprise! — Obama has suddenly discovered his inner honkey, and has distanced himself from the man whose church he attended for decades; who conducted his marriage; and who baptized his children.
Among other things, Wright reiterated his belief that the U.S. government may well have created the AIDS epidemic as a way of killing off racial minorities. He also applauded Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan as one of the most important voices of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Obama’s newfound white side is appalled. “When I say I find these comments appalling, I mean it. It contradicts everything I am about and who I am,” Obama said, adding that Wright’s comments “end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate.”

Obama never defended Wrights comments initially,he attempted to explain how the Rev. Wrights life experience (1940,1950,etc.)and his inability to move on (forgive and forget)was a better way to live
Now that the Rev. wright has the publishers paycheck we have not heard the last.We are in a unique position to characterize them both for their imperfections and lapses in judgment while shielding our own.
Blacks were experimented upon by the government up until the early 1970’s at Tuskegee, therefor,is the HIV contention beyond the realm of possibly for the group who underwent these test for the benefit of science and the rest of us? Do you remember General Amherst, smallpox in blankets and the Indians. You are really blessed to be in your position. Farrakhan is not for everybody nor does he claim to be. people like you and I are pawns who promote arguments of the wealthybecause we really do not care to examine the truth..
There are white politicians who don’t care for poor or working class people regardless of race.
Jobs are leaving and they will not return.Blacks, whites and now Hispanics will be competing for the same blue-collar jobs if they show no interest or value for education beyond high school.
Affirmative action and the”Good O’l Boy” system fades with the job losses.
In a global economy any country that taxes companies less than the US gets the jobs and the factories.
I believe fear that Blacks will remember ill treatment throughout the years if they become empowered would serve to unite whites, however, if they resort to traditional methods of hatred and name calling, it will be self defeating. Yuppies historically have never been the foot soldiers of hatred and contempt for Black Americans.
If the working class Blackman and Whiteman put there heads together we would change this country over night. Now the Hispanics are here, They just want to work. No overtime, no benefits or two weeks off work. patriotism and capitalism dont mix. If Americans want a living wage thats only fair. But if foreigners will do the job for 5 bucks an hour who do you think your wealthy white brother is going to hire and where do you think he will move his company.
The black community as you all know is fraught with many social ills that are not going away any time soon because you point them out.
Although Obama is my preference I can live with either candidate.Obama has to go out of his way to be fair to a group who would never vote for him. It is about class today. Remember Enron. Whites learned a great lesson.
Maybe it is time for serious dialog.maybe your contempt is misdirected.
